Features Pharmacy is the profession of compounding and dispensing medication. More recently, the term has come to include other services related to patient care including clinical practice, medication review, drug information, etc. Some of these new roles are now mandated by law in various legislatures. .Before we go any further let's enlighten you about the difference between Pharmacy and Pharmacology. Pharmacology is a pure and experimental science, which studies the action of drugs on living beings. It is possible for a pharmacist to shift career from pharmacy to pharmacology. Seeing the scope and significance of pharmacy the union ministry of health and family welfare, Govt. of india constituted a statutory body "Pharmacy Council of India" under the pharmacy act 1948. This council is responsible for prescription, regulation and maintenance of minimum educational standards for the training of pharmacist and their registration throughout the country. the council prescribes syllabus rules and regulations for diploma, graduate, postgraduate courses. Job opportunities : The discipline of pharmacy has a good future, offering wide range of employment opportunities with an excellent salary. Only with an undergraduate degree one may easily enter into pharmaceutical associated jobs as described below. however, one can take up teaching/research as a career with M.Pharma and Ph.D degree only. | |
